Priory Park Petanque Court consultation
This consultation closed on 15 March 2021 - thank you to everyone who completed the survey.
We will review the consultation submissions and will update this page when we have more details to share with you.
What we consulted on
We have received a request from a group of Petanque enthusiasts to add a Petanque Court in Priory Park. We support this development as it fits our aims of providing social activities in parks to reduce isolation and loneliness.
The installation of a Petanque Court would also promote community empowerment, as well as providing health benefits for people over 50: protecting our older population from age-related health factors such as cognitive decline and dementia.
What is Petanque?
Petanque is a sport that is played on a 16 by 9 metre court.
It falls into the category of boules sports, along with Raffa, Bocce/Boccia, Boule Lyonnaise, Lawn Bowls and Crown Green Bowling. In all these sports, players or teams play their balls/’boules’/bowls towards a target ball.
Possible locations
Two areas in Priory Park have been identified as the most suitable locations:
- Option 1: opposite the Priory Park Café - on the right-hand side
- Option 2: next to the table tennis area/courts
