About your park
References to Chapmans Green date back as far as 1619 when it was originally a common. Little has changed since it received park status in the early 1900s.
The formal gardens keep their shape, but are now more sustainably planted.
Pavilion
The Green houses a mock-Tudor pavilion. It was repainted in 2019, using originals colours to celebrate the 400-year history of the park.
Green Flag Award
First awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in 2006, the park has kept it ever since.

Park management
Find out how the park is managed:
Friends group
Local people formed the Friends of Chapman’s Green group in 2016. The aim was to give the under-used and overlooked green space some love and affection.
They organise community events throughout the year and have regular clean-up days.

Planned improvements
In September 2020, funding was awarded to buy and install play equipment.
The equipment will be for young children and make Chapmans Green a more welcoming place for families.
