A wide range of new projects have been launched this year to improve and introduce new facilities in Finsbury Park.
New over 8’s play now open
The new playground was opened on 1 August 2019 and offers a wide range of interactive and stimulating play for all ages whilst blending into the nature and landscape surrounding the playground. As the Richard Hope space is an integral and historic part of the park, the new playground will create a seamless link to the Richard Hope space, which is set to be completed by the end of the year.
On 7 August 2019, the refreshed McKenzie gardens were opened with their original design when first established. Offering a blend of historic planting representing the era of its birth alongside modern planting reflective of the 21st century.
These will mirror the basketball courts adjacent to the volleyball and netball courts, and will offer new sports surfacing and fencing.Surface works upgrade to the two existing volleyball and netball courts have now been completed.
In partnership with Access to Sports the existing tennis courts will be resurfaced and floodlights installed. This will enable us to provide the local playing community with high quality facilities and increase court availability by over 3000 hours every year.
