The Summer Reading Challenge will launch in all Haringey Libraries on Saturday 9 July 2022. It is suitable for those aged 4 to 11 years. The challenge is to read 6 library books over the summer holidays with a chance to win some fantastic prizes, including book vouchers and a tablet!

It's fun, free and easy to take part in. Your local library will give you a sticker for every book you read, and after finishing 6 books you'll get a medal and certificate.

This year's challenge has been developed in partnership with the Science Museum Group and features the Gadgeteers – 6 fictional young innovators who plan a party for their town's summer fair using creative thinking and teamwork.

You can help the Gadgeteers come up with ingenious inventions to make the summer party the best ever!

We also have a variety of fun activities in many of our libraries to inspire an interest in science and technology, from making your own hot air balloon or making slime. See the  timetable of activities (PDF, 800KB) and look out for more at your local library.

The Summer Reading Challenge (external link) is produced by The Reading Agency (external link) and runs in libraries all over the country.

You can also keep up to date with the reading challenge via our Twitter (external link) and Facebook (external link) channels!
