Barratt Gardens are the formal gardens that lie to the south of the common. Here you’ll find a wisteria covered pergola that offers shade from both the sun and rain.
Recent improvement works
Works to improve Wood Green Common were completed in June 2025.
These included:
- new small children’s play area
- new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) PlayZone
- new outdoor gym
- new Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems
- soft landscaping – including planting of new trees
- new footways and park furniture
Booking the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) PlayZone
Located in the heart of Wood Green Common, this modern PlayZone features a durable Tarmacadam hard-court surface, perfect for a variety of sports and activities, including:
- Football
- Basketball
- Netball
- General fitness and recreational play
The facility is open 7 days a week, from 8:00AM to 9:00 PM, and is free to use. You can book online via ClubSpark.

Funding and Community Impact
This PlayZone was funded by Haringey Council, Premier League, The FA, and the Government’s Football Foundation to bring communities together through football and a wide range of physical activities.
To coach or deliver fitness sessions, you must have permission from Haringey Council and hold a valid Physical Activity Permit. Clubs can book directly.
