Early Help and Prevention, Targeted Response and Youth Justice
‘Early help’ means all of the services – internal, external, voluntary and community based - that enable families to achieve sustainable, positive outcomes, become more resilient, and prevent the escalation of their needs. The following teams are apart of the Early Help and Prevention Service.

Locality Team
Haringey’s Early Help Locality Teams are integral to the delivery of Haringey’s multi-agency, partnership early help offer.
They provide direct and practical support to families facing multiple and/ or complex issues, to address needs at an earlier stage and prevent issues from escalating.
Youth Team
This is a team of Youth Practitioners, Youth Engagement Coordinators and a Raising Participation Age Coordinator. They deliver a universal provision for young people aged 11-19 years at Bruce Grove Youth Space, offer targeted support for Young Carers and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, run the Haringey Youth Council and manage the Council’s statutory DfE requirements for post 16 destinations.
Youth Justice Team (YJT)
The YJT is responsible for the supervision of children and young people subject to pre-court interventions and statutory court disposals. The YJT recognises that the effective delivery of services to young people who offend and their families requires clear lines of accountability and clarity of role.
Targeted Response Team
This team provides intensive support to families, children and young people who are on the edge of:
- care;
- youth crime,
- gang involvement;
- substance misuse and
- Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
This service also includes specialist workers in domestic abuse, child/adult mental health, substance misuse and traveller communities.
Children Centres Team
A Children's Centre brings together a range of services for children under five and their families such as family support, health and education.
It includes good quality childcare, information and support across the local community. The idea is to make services easy to use and to give children the best start in life.
Single Point of Access/MASH Team
This team provides the ‘Front Door’ to Children’s Social Care and Early Help Services in Haringey (located within the Children in Need of Support and Protection service).
Working in Haringey
This is what Lulu has to say about working in the Early Help and Prevention, Targeted Response and Youth Justice Service:
“I’ve been a family support worker with Haringey for 2 years now and absolutely love the diversity within the Borough – both among the residents and council staff. For me, it’s important to see a staff body representative of the families and children we are supporting – I can honestly say this makes for more empathetic and informed working and definitely no dull moments!”
