Children in Need of Support and Protection
The Children in Need of Support and Protection Service is made up of the following teams:
The purpose of the Assessment Team is to gather information and to analyse the needs of the child or children and/or their family and the nature and level of any risk of harm to the child or children.
Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
The MASH provides a single point of access to the services which help keep children safe. It is a multi – agency team made up of representatives from a range of services that provide advice, support and protection needed. These services include:
- Children’s Social Care
- Haringey Policy
- Children and Adolescent mental health services
- Early Help
- Substance Misuse
- Victim Support
The MASH provides a secure environment for these services to share information and improve decision-making whenever there are concerns for a child.
Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
The Children’s Services Emergency Duty Team is a team of qualified, specially trained and experienced social workers who provide an emergency response outside of office hours. The EDT will consider a response for any child or young person (up to the age of 18) who is at risk of significant harm. The Children’s EDT forms part of the Front Door Safeguarding Hub.
No Recourse to Public Funds
No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) is an immigration condition restricting access to public funds, including many mainstream benefits such as welfare and housing.
Haringey Council has a dedicated NRPF team in order to manage how much we spend and to liaise with the Home Office to make sure that immigration queries are resolved quickly.
Safeguarding and Support
The welfare of all Children and Young People in the London Borough of Haringey is our key priority. Safeguarding ensures that children are kept safe as possible by identifying their needs, views and any risks they face. Services, information and support can then be provided as required.
This is what Hannah says about working in Children in Need of Support and Protection:
I like working in Haringey for several reasons, but mainly because of the people. Everyone is friendly, approachable and committed to providing Haringey children and families the best possible service. We all seem to be on the same mission, and I also feel valued by the organisation. I like my role as a Team Manager because I get to build a team of committed and skilled social workers who are proud to work for the borough that I am also proud of.
We can be creative in Haringey as it is a borough with limited resources, like everywhere, but we always work hard to be creative with what we have and offer families with what we hope are the tools to move forward without us.
We are regularly looking for people to join our Children In Need of Support and Protection Teams – visit our jobs website for the latest vacancies
