Language and Basic Skills

If you want to improve your English language and basic skills, we have a number of programmes running in the borough that could help you. The courses listed below have been designed specifically to help you to gain skills that will improve your chances of getting a job.

ESOL, Basic Skills and accredited Employability training

If you are receiving benefits you can access a range of levels of ESoL courses, basic skills and accredited employability training through Jobcentre Plus referral. 

ESoL, basic skills and vocational training courses are provided by 5E on behalf of Jobcentre Plus. 5E can be contacted on 020 8352 1313 and are based at the Selby Centre, Selby Road, Tottenham. N17 8UL.

Residents can access a range of courses as well as get advice and guidance on how improving skills can help start or change your career at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CoNEL).

CoNEL can be contacted on 020 8442 3108 and are based at High Road, Tottenham, N15 4RU.

Skills for Life

Haringey Adult Learning Service (HALS) run Skills for Life courses in literacy, numeracy and ESoL for residents who want to improve their skills and their employment chances. Courses are held at the HALS sites in White Hart Lane and Wood Green Library.
