Homelessness

On 3 April 2018 the Homelessness Reduction Act (HRA) came into effect and changed the way that we deal with any eligible person who is at risk of homelessness. Find out more about the HRA here.

If you are worried about becoming homeless then get in touch as soon as possible so we can help prevent you becoming homeless.

If you’re at risk of homelessness within the next 56 days then you can use our new online self-referral form to contact the Homelessness Prevention Service, or browse the information pages below:

Research into the causes of homelessness

Following the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is conducting research to find out more about what causes homelessness and how well homelessness services meet peoples’ needs. To understand how your personal information will be used for this research, or to opt out, please read the following:

If you applied for housing assistance before 3 April 2018

If we accepted an application from you prior to 3rd April 2018, this will be assessed and concluded in line with previous legislation (external link).
