Exhibition: The Journey Back to My Home Town
The exhibition is on until 3 November 2019 - museum opening hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 1pm to 5pm.
Tania Pascoal is an artist who grew up in Tottenham and regularly paints local scenes. She is currently training to be an architect. In 2018, she was selected by the RIBA as one of the Young Black Architects in the UK.
In 2015, Tania had her first solo exhibition at Bruce Castle. She chose the title 'Hidden from the Public View' as she wanted the paintings to show Tottenham in a positive way after the Tottenham riots. Her paintings reveal a Tottenham that the media didn’t project.
Her new exhibition in 2019 documents, through watercolours and sketches, three years of the journey she took around her local area. It features the transformation of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Stadium from the old to the new, as well as other familiar street scenes that have undergone change.
Tania is collaborating with a poet, Elizabeth Mitchell. With Elizabeth's poems on display, their joint work will tell each painting’s story.
