Possible delays to bin collections - update: please read this if you are experiencing disruption or delay to your bin collections.

Why recycle?

Haringey Council encourages and supports recycling. Reusing and recycling waste are the most sustainable methods of waste disposal and the most cost-effective.

You can help with recycling

The best way to help with recycling starts at your doorstep. Separate your food waste and recycling into the right bins. And don’t contaminate your recycling with items that need to go in your rubbish bin. If the wrong items get inside the recycling bin then all of its contents will be sent to the energy-from-waste facility and not go for recycling.

  • See our which bin to use page.

Using our garden waste service means you can have weekly removals of green garden waste like hedge trimmings and grass. We also encourage home composting as a good way of re-using green garden waste.

If you have furniture that maybe someone else could use check out our furniture reuse page.

For large bulky items, like old sofas, we offer a service for bulky waste removals.

We also offer a free service for removal of white goods.

Haringey has clothes banks where clothes and shoes can go to be reused.

We also support community recycling projects - check our community recycling and credits page.

The Reuse and Recycling Centre is where you can take most items that you can’t put in your rubbish or recycling bins. The centre has recycling banks for most household and garden waste items.

  • If you want to know more about what happens to recycling after we collect it read our what happens to recycling page.
