Social distancing in parks | Tottenham & Wood Green Cemeteries | Bury Road car park
The signs are encouraging
Thanks to those of you that have been adhering to Government rules around social distancing while you’ve been doing your once daily dose of exercise in our parks & open spaces.
By remaining two metres/six feet apart; staying in groups of not more than two people from the same household and keeping your dogs on leashes, you are helping to protect the NHS and save lives.
These scenes in Finsbury Park (external link) over the weekend are increasingly being replicated in other parks and open spaces across Haringey.
However, we are still receiving reports that some irresponsible park users are accessing closed/fenced off facilities, such as the play areas and outdoor gym equipment. This then only serves to encourage more people to gain access and congregate as a large gathering in a confined area.
Others – like some dog owners and joggers – are not adhering to the rules around social distancing, which are just as applicable to your pet’s four legs as your two.
These selfish, thoughtless actions are putting the safety of your loved ones and yourself at risk, as well as the wider community here in Haringey.
You should only be leaving your property for four essential purposes – to buy food; to collect medicine; to go to work* (*if it’s impossible for you to work remotely from home) and to exercise once a day. Otherwise, please stay at home, help to protect the NHS and save lives (external link).
Closure of burial grounds in Tottenham & Wood Green Cemeteries
In accordance with Government rules on social distancing, the burial/interment grounds of privately-run cemeteries and crematoriums – including Tottenham & Wood Green Cemeteries and Enfield Crematorium – are now closed to the public until further notice.
They remain open for cremation and funeral services and signage has been erected along the footpath through the centre of Tottenham Cemetery informing visitors of the new arrangements in place.
Bury Road car park closure
In order to protect members of the public and council employees during the outbreak, Bury Road car park will close on Monday 30 March 2020 until further notice. We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience caused.
For key workers, the council has relaxed parking enforcement of its residential and shared used Pay by Phone permit bays therefore, during the closure, you will be entitled to park in these areas. This arrangement also applies to our customers, including residents and contract staff of Sanctuary Housing.
Essential Service Permit holders and Haringey council employees will be entitled to use the car park facilities located at Civic Centre, 255 High Road, Wood Green N22 8LE.
If you have an enquiry, please email us at: parkingschemes@haringey.gov.uk or call 020 8489 2618.
