Looking out for each other
There are many things we can do to look out for each other during the coronavirus pandemic.
The most important action we can all take is to stay at home. It might not seem like a lot but staying home will help in the fight against coronavirus, it will save lives and protect the NHS.
If you’re well, there are ways to help others who are social distancing, such as friends, family members, your neighbours, and others in your local community. These include helping with food shopping, collecting medication, staying in touch with people over the phone and on social media and encouraging people to stay mentally and physically active.
If you are helping others:
- Do not go inside the homes of anyone you do not live with, especially vulnerable people
- Limit the amount of time you spend outside of your home by picking up essential items for them when you do your own shopping
- Stay two metres (six feet) away from anyone you do not live with at all times. Do not share a car journey with them
- Regularly wash your hands with soapy water for at least 20 seconds

Parks this weekend
We know many of you are relying on our parks for exercise during the coronavirus pandemic.
We’re working hard to keep them open, and we really need your continued help and support.
Please follow the social distancing guidance and stay at least two metres away from other park users. This will help to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, protect the NHS and save lives.
You should only be in our parks to either cycle, jog or walk by yourself or with members from the same household. If you’re walking your dog, please keep them on a lead.
We are also urging cyclists and joggers to take special heed of the social distancing measures in place to ensure the safety of everyone using our parks for exercise.
We will be patrolling our parks over the weekend. Please don’t:
- Have barbeques, picnics, or go sunbathing
- Use the outdoor gym equipment and facilities – they are closed
- Exercise in groups
Please also remember to wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds once you’re back indoors.
If you’re not in our parks to exercise, please stay home.
We’re really grateful to everyone who has been following the rules – you are helping us keep our parks open, protect the NHS and save lives. Thank you.
