The UK Government’s COVID-19 recovery strategy
Information for businesses
The government has set out its COVID-19 recovery plan which aims to safeguard livelihoods, but in a way that is safe and continues to protect the NHS.
For the time being, a large number of businesses and venues must still stay closed to the public by law. This includes hairdressers, nail bars, clothes shops, restaurants and more.
Working safely
It is still very important that people stay home and work from home if they are able to. For some industries this isn’t possible. Guidance has been published to help employers, employees and the self-employed understand how to work safely during the coronavirus pandemic in specific workplaces (external link).
Please visit our dedicated business support pages for all the latest support and advice available to businesses.
Be Proud to Care
Could you play a key role in helping vulnerable people in your community? Carers are needed across the whole of London to support people to get back on their feet and regain their independence.
Proud to Care London links people into crucial jobs in care, in partnership with councils across London, including Haringey Council. If you would like to start your career in care, complete a short online registration form (external link) and a member of the Proud to Care to Care team will be in touch!
Using public transport
The hard work is starting to pay off, but the lockdown is not over and residents are urged to stay home as much as possible. The Government has shared updated guidance on social distancing (external link) and wearing face coverings (external link).
Although the Government has updated its guidance around coronavirus (external link), the message about public transport in London stays the same - only travel if you are a key worker or if it is absolutely essential.
If you must travel, you may want to consider staggering your journey start and end time - the current peak times are between 05:45-07:30 and 16:00-17.30.
Where possible, please try to walk or cycle instead. If you have to drive, please avoid peak times and stick to speed limits and traffic laws.
Where you are able to work from home, the advice is that we should continue to do so. Only by keeping numbers of people using public transport down, will social distancing remain possible.
