The members code of conduct details how councillors should conduct themselves. 

The Standards Committee, assisted by the monitoring officer, are responsible for considering allegations that a councillor or co-opted member of the council has failed to comply with the code. 

How to make a complaint

We can only consider complaints about why you think the code of conduct has not been followed.

How we will deal with your complaint

The monitoring officer:

  • will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days
  • may ask you for more information
  • may ask you to fill in a complaints form if you have not already done so

If the monitoring officer thinks your complaint does not relate to a breach of the code, they will:

  • inform you of this
  • ask you to provide further relevant information
