Support Workers

Meet the team

We have three support workers:

Our hub support workers can provide support with:

  • Linking clients up with specialist support such as employment, Council Tax and Housing advisors
  • Support with navigating through the system to access the right support when it’s needed
  • Providing information, advice and guidance on a broad range of services and topics to help clients become more independent

Employment

Meet the team

We have two employment advisors in the Connected Communities team who support residents into sustained employment:

Our Employment Advisors can support residents with:

  • Creating a CV
  • Searching for jobs
  • Completing job applications
  • Preparing for interviews
  • Transferring overseas qualifications (NARIC)

Housing

Meet the team

We have four housing advisors in the Connected Communities team who support residents with housing issues and improve their living conditions:

Our Housing Advisors can support with:

  • Private-rented disrepair issues
  • Rent arrears
  • Preventing homelessness
  • Landlord disagreements
  • Eviction notices

Parent Support

Meet the team

We have two support workers to help support parents on a wide range of issues, including debt, welfare benefits, housing and parenting:

Our School support workers can provide support with:

  • Supporting families to address debt and stopping financial problems escalating
  • Supporting families to find voluntary, paid work or educational opportunities
  • Supporting young adults to improve their children's attendance, behaviour and well-being
  • Supporting families to get on-line and improve digital skills

Early Years

Meet the team

We have four Early Years outreach workers in the Connected Communities team who support residents that are pregnant or who are parents of young children:

Our Early Years workers can support with:

  • Applying for Free for 2’s childcare offer
  • Registering at a Children’s Centre
  • Introducing parents to relevant events, classes and activities

ESOL (English as a Second Language)

What is ESOL?

Connected Communities work with Haringey Adult Learning Service (HALS) to provide ESOL courses that are designed for people whose first language is not English.

Classes on offer

We offer a variety of courses from pre-entry, beginner courses to Level 2 speaking and listening, as well as a number of employability pathways including:

  • Working in Childcare
  • English for Private Hire Drivers
  • Intro to Teaching
  • ESOL and IT

Community Groups

Meet the team

Connected Communities commission Bridge Renewal Trust and Selby Trust to provide support and guidance to existing community groups as well as individuals wanting to set up a group or a registered charity:

Our community outreach workers can support with:

  • Setting up a new community group
  • Applying for grants or funding for a community group
  • Providing training for community group board members
  • Linking individuals with relevant community groups

  • Developing and using personal and local networks

Citizen’s Advice Bureau

Meet the team

Connected Communities work with Citizens Advice Bureau to support residents with financial and welfare benefit-related issues.

Our CAB advisors can support residents with:

  • Housing, disrepair, private tenancies
  • Welfare benefits
  • Debts (Insolvency)
  • Employment Law
