Reasons to join up
In Haringey our strength is our people, and we strongly believe that the more of our residents who sign up to be a part of the panel, the better the borough will be for all of us who live and work here.
Being a member of the panel is an exciting opportunity for you, as someone who lives in the borough, to have your say on how your public services are delivered, how the Council works with residents, and the future of the borough more widely. Panel activity is designed to be easy and enjoyable to take part in, so that as many residents as possible can join in and be represented, and have the chance to share their thoughts on the issues that concern them most.
Taking part in Citizens’ Panel Surveys will also automatically enter you into an annual prize draw to win vouchers worth £50, which can be used at your local high street shops.
Who can become a panel member?
The Haringey Together Citizens’ Panel is open to anyone who wants to become a member. You just need a valid email address and to live in the borough.
While membership is open to all residents, we are also actively recruiting a diverse group of over 1,900 residents from all parts of the borough and all walks of life, to ensure that the panel is reflective of our wider population and that no group is under-represented. To ensure this is the case, when recruiting to the panel we take into account residents’ age, ethnic group, sex, disability, and where they live in the borough.
What happens after I join?
Once you have filled in the application form you will receive an email from us to confirm that you are now a panel member, and from then you will start getting invites to take part in regular panel activity.
How often you get involved is entirely up to you, but as a minimum, we would like our members to participate in at least three surveys per year. The number of questions on our surveys will vary, with most of the questionnaires taking between 5 and 15 minutes to complete. You will be encouraged to respond online if possible, but in some circumstances, we will also offer the option of completing surveys on paper for people who do not have access to, or are unable to use, a computer or the internet.
In addition, the Council is also seeking panel members who may wish to be more involved in face-to-face or online workshops and/or focus groups. We will send out invitations to join in, but there is no obligation to take part. If you do attend events or focus groups in person, reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed. In joining the panel, members agree to receive communications from us throughout the year. It is, however, possible to withdraw at any time and have your data deleted if you decide you no longer want to be a member.
Safety and data collection
Your safety is of utmost importance to us, so in the short-term this panel activity will be online and by telephone. However, in the future, when it is safe to do so, we will also hold more face-to-face interactive events, including interviews and workshops.
To ensure the panel is representative of the local population, we need to collect personal information about you at the point of joining. The personal information includes details such as your name, address, age and ethnicity. All personal information is stored securely by Civica (our partner) and Haringey Council.
Civica is the data processor working on behalf of the Council, who is the data controller. Further information about how Haringey Council manages the personal information that we hold relating to our residents, customers and service providers, is available on the Data Protection section of our website, and if you have any queries please contact our Data Protection Officer.
