About Hornsey Sixth Form College
We are a small and nurturing 6th form community college. We make the most of every minute and build in time for you to express your views, meet with professionals from an array of industries and ensure you make exceptional progress in your chosen subjects. In addition to your subject teachers you will be assigned a tutor who will guide and challenge you throughout your sixth form journey with us. All students receive an interview with a university careers advisor to ensure that you have the information you need to make decisions regarding your future, and to assist you when making university visits.
We have an excellent mentoring programme. Our partners include The Access Project – a charity designed to prepare you for applying to Russell Group universities, The Girls Network providing mentoring from some of the leading women in their fields and industries and mock interview mentors for Oxbridge and Medic applicants and many more. Our key aim is to ensure we provide bespoke support and opportunities for all students. The good news? All of this is free!
Enrichment is something we encourage. As a result we have built in time within our school day for you to explore new experiences and develop your skill set, just like at university. Clubs include the ethics and debating clubs, sports groups and after school football, PRIDE club, gardening club and projects run by local theatre groups to name but a few. If you have an idea, you are encouraged to share it with us and together we will make it happen! Student voice is significant at HSFC and we value everything our students contribute. Our outreach projects help mould our students into people who give back to the local community, such as the generation exchange project, which sees our young people tutoring elderly people in ICT skills.
We offer a range of exciting courses that are unique and popular including History, Sociology, Psychology, Health and Social Care and Criminology. We cater for all by offering both A-Levels and BTEC courses because we believe that designing the perfect curriculum package for individuals is vital.
A final reason to study at HSC is to apply for one of our scholarships – Hornsey Scholars! ‘Hornsey Scholars’, nominated for outstanding attainment and behaviour, will receive: a tablet, a scholarship mentoring programme with Futures - a charity providing residential trips hosted by Russell Group universities, as well as personalised trips and enrichment offering subsidised cultural experiences.
Whoever you are and whatever your path we create a welcoming environment that brings out the very best in our students.
