The Nationality Checking Service ends nationally at the end of December
- Important: the Nationality Checking Service ends nationally at the end of December and all appointments in Haringey are now fully booked
The Government is withdrawing the Nationality Checking Service (NCS) and the Nationality Document Return Service (NDRS). Local authorities will no longer be able to offer NCS after the 31 December 2018 and NDRS after the 30 November 2018. Information about these changes can be found in the statement provided by UKVI below. We will continue to offer a Citizenship Ceremony most Friday mornings.
As of the 30 November 2018 Local Authorities will cease to offer the Settlement Checking Service and Nationality Document Return Service, customers can now apply online via GOV.UK.
As of the 31 December 2018 Local Authorities will cease to provide the Nationality Checking Service and customers can now apply online via GOV.UK.
New UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services
From 9 November 2018, the majority of customers will complete their applications online then attend 1 of 57 new service centres in the UK, named UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services, managed by a commercial partner, Sopra Steria. Customers will attend an appointment at a service centre to submit their biometric information (photo and fingerprints), and supporting evidence (including proof of identity). To learn more about the new services please visit the new front end services pages on the GOV.UK website (external link).
Assisted Digital Service
UKVI have set up an Assisted Digital support service that is available to customers who do not have the appropriate access, skills or confidence to complete an online application form. The Assisted Digital Service aims to ensure that nobody is excluded from making an immigration application due to lack of digital skills or access to a computer. Eligible customers are offered telephone support, or face to face support at a library or their home, to help them access and complete the online form. This service does not provide immigration advice. For more information and contact details, see the Assisted Digital service pages on the GOV.UK website (external link).

Assuming that your NCS application is successful the Home Office will write to you asking for you to arrange a Citizenship Ceremony. This ceremony will take place in the borough where you live unless you opt on your application form to have your ceremony elsewhere. If you would like your ceremony in Haringey at our Wood Green Council Chamber please write this on your application form. Our venue is situated 5 minutes from Wood Green Underground Station which offers a quick journey into Central London should you need to go to work afterwards. We do a ceremony almost every Friday at 10am and you can usually have your ceremony within seven days of being approved by the Home Office.
