Building a fairer, greener Haringey: our progress

Part of: How we spend your money

We're making progress in our mission to create a fairer, greener Haringey and delivering tangible improvements for our residents across a wide range of areas.

Homes and communities

We are tackling the housing crisis head-on, aiming to deliver 3,000 new high-quality homes by 2031, with over 2,000 already underway or completed. We've also announced a substantial investment of almost £600 million to enhance the comfort and quality of all 20,000 existing council homes over the next decade.

Our commitment to better infrastructure is clear: we have:

  • filled 5,399 potholes
  • resurfaced 188 roads
  • installed 282 new streetlights

We have also invested in our green spaces:

  • improving 21 local parks
  • building 5 new playgrounds
  • and renovating 5 more

Through our ambitious Streets for People initiative, we have introduced 34 School Streets, protecting 16,000 children, along with almost 300 new electric vehicle chargers and 239 on-street bike hangars.

Supporting families and education

We are dedicated to empowering our families and children. Our Children’s Services were awarded a 'Good' rating for the first time, and SEND services achieved the highest OFSTED rating.

We:

  • are investing £47 million into school repairs
  • have opened 4 new family hubs
  • have provided Council Tax relief for almost 25,000 residents
  • have ensured our leisure centres are now publicly run, with major improvements underway

Culture and collaboration

Haringey is a vibrant hub of culture and opportunity. We're thrilled to be named London Borough of Culture for 2027, a fantastic opportunity to showcase our community's stories and voices.

Our Haringey Deal, a commitment to collaboration with residents, has seen 37,000 people contribute to our public engagements. We're actively engaging with local people through initiatives like the Haringey Business Forum, Climate Partnership, and Youth Council, tapping into their strength and expertise.

We've done a lot so far, but we know there's much more to achieve, and we'll continue co-designing and collaborating with our community to deliver for all residents in Haringey.
