feature: Young Heroes
5 August 2008
Haringey Council organised the inaugural Young Haringey Heroes event to celebrate the achievements of children and young people.
The special event was held at the Sixth Form Centre in Tottenham, with young people being presented with awards in a number of categories to reflect their wide range of activities and achievements.
There were two age categories: junior awards for young people aged 12 and under and senior awards for those aged 13 and over.
More than 200 nominations were received from schools, faith groups, community groups and neighbours.
Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people, said:
“We are delighted to mark the achievements of this remarkable group of young people who deserve public acclaim for their work, commitment and success – much of which goes unseen and unrecognised.
“They show what great, talented and positive young people we have in Haringey.”
