Have your say on Tottenham's Future

We know you want Tottenham to be a place where people are proud to live, work, invest and stay throughout their lifetimes – and so do we. However, transforming Tottenham is an enormous challenge and one that can only be achieved by the Council and its partner organisations working with you to meet the challenges this brings.

Our conversations since the summer tell us that people want:

  • Safe and confident communities
  • A stronger local economy
  • Higher quality housing
  • Excellent public space and transport

Tottenham Priority Areas for Improvement map

Local communities, businesses and stakeholders have also told us that we should focus attention initially on four key priority areas in Tottenham: Northumberland Park, Tottenham Green, Tottenham Hale and the High Road. This does not mean that other areas of Tottenham will be excluded from change and improvement – we are determined to transform Tottenham as a whole and provide new opportunities for the whole community.

Consultation events

We have held, and attended, a wide range of public events, meetings and forums to encourage people to ‘Have their Say’ on Tottenham’s Future. This has included visits to schools, door knocking exercises, Area Committees and attendance at events organised by organisations such as HAVCO.

Two public consultation events were held on 28 and 29 November at Tottenham Town Hall (South Tottenham) and the Northumberland Park Neighbourhood Resource Centre (NRC) (North Tottenham). The event at Tottenham Town Hall attracted almost 90 attendees and the event at the NRC almost 30. A report summarising the feedback from these meetings is available here:

As part of this consultation, we also sent out ‘Have your Say’ questionnaires to all households in Tottenham (and it was also available to complete online).

We received over 650 responses and a report summarising the feedback, as well as all the responses received during the consultation is available to download below.

Haringey Community Panel

Making Haringey a better place than ever before is the ambition behind the new community panel supported by Haringey Council. The panel, chaired by the Leader of the Council Claire Kober, wants to engage the local community to understand the impact of the riots on the community in Tottenham, develop ideas and actions to ensure continued confidence in Tottenham and ensure that plans for change in Tottenham involve the people who live and work there.

Whilst the Council is providing administrative support for the panel, panel members are clear about their independence and will reach their own conclusions and recommendations.

The Panel’s findings will feed into the development of the Council’s overall strategy for Tottenham’s Future that it will consult on in May 2012.
