Planning Appeals

The Planning Inspectorate

Planning appeals are handled by a separate national body, the Planning Inspectorate (see external links section). An applicant who has had their planning application refused by the council has the right to make an appeal to the Inspectorate within six months of the application being decided. To find out more about making a planning appeal, read the Making Your Planning Appeal guide (see external links section).

For those who wish to find out how to take part in someone else's appeal, please read the Guide to Taking Part in Planning Appeals (see external links section).

Appeal online

You can now submit an appeal online through the Government's Planning Portal website (see external links section).
