Greenest Borough Strategy
Successful lift off for green strategy
Haringey's Greenest Borough Strategy 'Going Green' was officially launched with partners at the Bernie Grant Centre on 20 October 2008.
How the strategy was developed
The Greenest Borough Strategy was adopted at a meeting of Full Council on 14 July 2008 and sets out how the Council will take forward actions to tackle climate change and embed environmental sustainability into everything we do.
This follows a comprehensive consultation exercise between November 2007 - January 2008 and a landmark consultation event called 'Going Green' held on 26 January 2008 at the West Green Learning Centre. A summary of the results of the consultation are provided electronically at the bottom of this page together with full and summary versions of the strategy.
Key priorities for action
Activities in the strategy break down into seven priority areas:
- Improving the urban environment
- Protecting the natural environment
- Managing environmental resources efficiently
- Leading by example
- Encouraging sustainable design and construction
- Promoting sustainable travel
- Raising awareness and involvement
