Fortismere
Fortismere is a Foundation School with multiple specialisms in Maths, Foreign Languages, Music and Computing. The school vision is “To be an outstanding school nationally, championing high aspirations and academic excellence and nurturing the individuality and potentional of every student”.
For a number of years Fortismere has been identified as an HPSS (High Performing Specialist School) and is highly regarded and very well supported by the community that it serves.
With a strong focus on academic excellence for all, as well as diverse cultural enrichment with strong international links, the school recently featured as one of the Top 20 comprehensives in the country in a Times newspaper article and is heavily over-subscribed in all years.
With a Sixth Form of 450 students, the school attracts applications from over 500 post-16 students each year. Most of our Year 13 leavers go on to university and many gain places at top Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, studying in highly competitive areas like Medicine, Natural Sciences, Law and English.

Admission by Musical Aptitude
Up to 10% of places (24 children in each year group) will be allocated on the basis of aptitude in Music, to be determined by prescribed tests. There will be two stages to the process. In the first stage, all applicants for places under this criterion must sit a written test of musical aptitude. There will be one test session on a specified date in September.
Applicants who achieve the qualifying mark in the first stage test will be invited to the second stage, and given an individual appointment during the school day near the start of October.
