The BSF Apprenticeship
Our programme has given opportunities to young people to be employed on a range of apprenticeships across all our secondary projects.
From plumbers and decorators, to quantity surveyors and electricians – apprentices have been doing their bit to help Haringey’s schools.
Haringey has had a host of apprentices learning new skills and helping the community as part of the BSF programme.

The programme has given young people real opportunities to work and learn from some of the best in the trade. In addition, RM - the managed service provider - is supporting apprenticeships at each of our secondary schools.
The apprenticeships were part of a deal arranged by Haringey Council to ensure maximum community benefit from the school improvement programme. In addition, the council insisted that local residents should make up at least ten per cent of the workforce, in order to create additional local employment. Balfour Beatty, Apollo Group and Breyer Group all exceeded this challenge.

The Haringey Guarantee Scheme enables young people to find the right training and employment opportunities. And Kieron Thomas, a former pupil of Fortismere School, has used the scheme to gain invaluable experience as an electrical installer with Breyer Group.
Kieron is now awaiting his final mark and his NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level 2 in electrical installation.
‘The experience I have gained will push me to do bigger things in life; it has given me an eye opener to success. It’s also pushed my self motivation, to work harder and become a successful electrical installer working for Breyer Group, and hopefully start up my own business.’
The Haringey Guarantee helps people to gain the skills, confidence and know-how to get the right job. Advisors meet with people looking for opportunities and help them to find the right training or employment.
The Haringey Guarantee is made up of different specialist providers, each with a particular focus on helping people towards their employment goals.
