The Big Toddle - a sporting event for the Under 5s

Friday 15 June 2007

You've heard of the New York marathon. And the London counterpart packs them in round the streets of the capital. Next week there's a sporting event in Haringey with a difference - The Big Toddle.

Children up to the age of five will be toddling for half a mile round the park at Bruce Castle Museum on Thursday (June 21).

Registration for the event is at 9.30am in front of the museum.  The "toddle" starts at 9.45.

And parents will be raising money through sponsorship to go to the Barnardo's charity.

It's all part of National Childminding Week, when a number of events will be held in the borough, including picnics, performers and entertainers in parks and children's centres.

Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people, said:

"I hope lots of parents bring their toddlers along to the event and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

"National Childminding Week is all about promoting the work of childminders and how they support families."

If you would like to join the Big Toddle call the team on 020 8489 2161 for details and a sponsor pack.
