The winners Maria Wood and Hervin Forbes with Cllr Dogus, the Mayor Gina Adamou and Mostak Ahmed.The Carer of the Year Award highlights the invaluable work of unpaid carers who look after members of their family or a friend.

Do you know one of the estimated 16,000 unpaid carers in the borough who deserves recognition?

Nominations can be from individuals, groups or organisations. They must be for someone who looks after someone who is living in Haringey.  This year there are two categories, carers who are under 18 (young carers) and those who are 18 and over (adult carers).

You can download a nomination form from the attached files section below. There are two versions of the form: one can be completed electronically and returned via email, the other can be printed off and returned by post.

The closing date is Sunday 27 May 2012. This year’s winner will be announced during National Carer’s Week 18 to 24 June.

Previous winners

2011: Two Tottenham residents were chosen as joint winners – Mrs Maria Wood and Mr Hervin Forbes.  Three carers were also presented Special Recognition Awards – Mr Alan Carey, Mrs Brinda Juggernauth and her son Mr Pat Juggernauth.

2010: Tom O'Hara, from Lordship Lane: Tom was one of 16 people nominated for Carer of the Year!

2009: Andreas Petinou, from Sidney Road, Wood Green. For the first time a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' was also presented this year. It went to Linda Dawson from Holcombe Road, Tottenham.

2008: Sharon Lindsay and Hilda Currey from Manor Road, N17 and Rutland Gardens N4 respectively were joint winners

2007: Luis Camara from Sidney Road in Wood Green was one of an estimated 16,000 unpaid carers in the borough. He was presented with a special trophy to mark the award.
