Response to story in the Journal

The future of Muswell Hill Library
Carmen Irizarry of the Friends of Muswell Hill Library is simply wrong in her assertions about possible cuts and charges at the library ("Protest action to protect Muswell Hill Library from cuts" – Journal, February 10).
We are not planning shorter opening hours.
We are not planning to levy charges for the use of computers.
One member of staff is taking voluntary redundancy.
New technology in libraries is not a threat: it saves time both for staff and for customers.
Not only are we are committed to keeping all of our libraries in the borough open, we are looking at ways to set them up as community “hubs” so they play a greater role by providing more services and support to local residents.
