Homelessness Strategy

Haringey’s Homelessness Strategy 2012-2014

Following a review of housing need, Haringey’s Homelessness Strategy 2012-2014 (PDF, 424KB) has been developed with the council’s partners.

Considerable progress was made in tackling and preventing homelessness through our last Homelessness Strategy 2008-2011 (PDF, 1.3MB). Achievements include:

  • reducing the number of households in temporary accommodation from 5867 (April 2007) to 2991 (Dec 2011),
  • preventing homelessness in more than 3,000 cases, and
  • launching a new Housing Allocations Policy.

However, homelessness remains one of our biggest challenges.

This new strategy builds on what we have learned over the last 3 years. It sets out how the Council and its partners will work together to prevent homelessness, tackle the causes of homelessness and provide better outcomes for people who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness.
