Green Flag

Sixteen parks and open spaces managed by Haringey Council have been declared as being among the best in the country.
Belmont Recreation Ground, Fairland Park, Markfield Park, Paignton Park and Russell Park are the newest additions to the borough's collection of Green Flag Parks, winning their Green Flags in 2010.
Albert Road Recreation Ground, Bruce Castle Park, Chapmans Green, Chestnuts Park, Coldfall Wood, Downhills Park, Finsbury Park, Priory Park, Stationers Park, Railway Fields Local Nature Reserve and Wood Green Cemetery all retained their existing Green Flags.
Green Flags were also awarded to Highgate Wood (managed by the Corporation of London), Alexandra Park (run by the Alexandra Palace Trust) and Tottenham Marshes (run by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority) - bringing the total Green Flag parks in Haringey to 19.
Under the criteria, sites are judged to be welcoming, safe and well managed, with active community involvement. The scheme recognises the value of green spaces in communities, particularly urban environments and rewards excellent standards of park management.
