Better Futures - Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP)

The recently formed ‘Children’s Trust’ brings together key agencies including the Police, NHS Services as well as the Council that all provide services for children and young people living in Haringey. Together they have set a long term vision for children and young people and through the Children and Young People’s Plan have established the priorities.

The Plan covers all services for residents of Haringey aged 0-19, young people aged 20 and over leaving care and young people up to the age of 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities. It was developed following a detailed Consultation and Comprehensive Needs Assessment as well as having due regard to our statutory responsibilities.

The CYPP includes 10 priorities that will lead to better outcomes for children and young people.

Strategic Plan 2009-2020 - The Children and Young People's Plan

Consultation on the Plan began in September 2008 at the 2020 Vision Day, where more than 100 individuals representing schools, service providers and other organisations, suggested key themes and outcomes to include in the new Plan.

The Children and Young People’s Strategic Plan 2009 – 2020 includes the Children’s Trust vision and the Every Child Matters (ECM) outcomes, together with Haringey’s priorities to tackle each outcome.

ECM five outcome areas are:

• Be Healthy
• Stay Safe
• Enjoy and Achieve
• Make a positive contribution
• Achieve economic well-being.

Implementation Plan 2009–2012

The Implementation Plan sets out our vision and priorities from 2009 – 2012. This ‘action plan’ will be reviewed at the end of each year and a new three-year plan produced annually.

Evaluation of Changing Lives 2008-2009

2008/9 is the final year of Changing Lives – The Children and Young People’s Plan 2006 – 2009. This document reviews work carried out and evaluates progress made in each of the six key outcome areas.

Voluntary and community sector organisations, statutory agencies and the wider community have contributed to this review, which goes on to inform the new CYPP Better Futures.
