Response to article on Broadwater Farm Community Centre
Response to article in the Journal:
Dear Editor,
I want to reassure your readers that there is no plan to close the Broadwater Farm Community Centre, as claimed in a story by the Journal last week (Vital centre ‘being run into the ground’, Journal, February 25).
The truth is we believe the centre to be a vital local resource and that is why we reduced hire charges last year and are now investing around £500,000 in improvements to make it more accessible to users.
These are hardly the actions of a council intending to close down an important facility.
The community centre is well used for a range of activities – including sports and exercise classes, dance workshops, computing, advice sessions – and as a regular meeting place for numerous community groups.
Yours sincerely,
Cllr Kaushika Amin
Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Involvement
