Rugby Union

Haringey Rhinos RFC

Haringey Rhinos

Haringey Rhinos RFC is the only rugby union club in Haringey. Our senior first XV competes in the London 3 North West league and our senior second XV competes in the Middlesex Merit league. We also field a veterans team (over 35s) and a third senior team, both of whom will be play regular fixtures throughout the season.

We have become known for our fast attractive brand of rugby and have a number of home grown players who joined us as teenagers and still play for the club today. Several of our alumni have gone on to play representative rugby for Middlesex County Clubs, and for England in various tag rugby tournaments.

This season, through the establishment of a new youth section, we aim to introduce the benefits of being part of a rugby club, to the upcoming/undiscovered rugby stars of tomorrow, the borough, the club and to the game as a whole. Our aim is to recruit, train and establish an Under 13s rugby side, who will be entered in the Herts and Middlesex Junior league for the 2011/12 season. Although we’re currently running only one age group side, we welcome boys and girls of all ages to come and give rugby a try. We’re are delighted to have our youth section sponsored by Education First, Ape Media and SQA Consulting.

We believe the game should be played with a smile, and through the years, we’ve had players from all corners of the globe represent the club. The camaraderie and bond of friendship established through playing rugby means we have Rhinos scattered all over the world. Our cosmopolitan mix of players fully reflects London today. Our policy of combining teamwork and enjoyment with serious performances on the pitch creates a shared bond of friendship throughout the club, and beyond.

Based five minutes from Wood Green tube and bus stations, in the heart of the London Borough of Haringey, we are North London’s leading club in providing modern rugby with an unsurpassed social aspect.

It’s never too late (or early) to get involved in rugby, and now is the perfect time join Haringey Rhinos RFC. Whatever your age or ability, come to training, meet our coaching staff and players, and get involved. Training sessions are held at our clubhouse and ground at White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, White Hart Lane, N22 5QW and are open to all.

Senior/Vets Training: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 9pm.

Youth Training: Every Sunday from 11am to 1pm.

London Skolars Rugby League team

London Skolars

London Skolars Rugby League Club is one of only two professional Rugby League clubs in London. The club was established in 1995 to provide post-university graduates in London an opportunity to play Rugby League. In 2003, they became the first club in 80 years to turn from amateur status into a professional outfit.

The club is based out of White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, Wood Green, N22 5QW, and is easily accessible by public transport and car with ample parking on site.

The London Skolars run three open age sides; the first team play in the Co-operative Championship 1, the third tier of professional Rugby League in the UK; their reserve team side, London Skolars ‘A’ play in the RLC Premier South. The Skolars also run a Masters squad which is open to players aged 35 and over.

The Skolars run teams for 12-18 year olds and play in the WCAM London Youth and Junior League. 2011 saw no less than 24 players from the junior section gain representative honours. As well as the junior set up, the Skolars run an extensive schools and holiday programme engaging with both Haringey primary and secondary schools and running programmes such as the successful Urban Rugby in estates and parks throughout Haringey. The Skolars junior section has been the breeding ground for current first team players Ade Adebisi, Steve Ball, Smokie Junor, Jaroslaw Obuchowski and current first team coach and ex Super League star Joe Mbu.
