If you have an urgent mental health need you can get immediate help from the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment (CRHT) service at St Ann's Hospital.

The single point of entry to all healthcare services provided by the Trust in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey is via the traige service.

The triage service operates from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Friday and provides face to face patient assessments.

Most people who use mental health services have been referred by their family doctor - if you feel you or someone you care about could benefit from our help it is important that you act now and make an appointment to see your doctor. The sooner help is given, the sooner recovery can begin. Please note: referrals can only be accepted from a local GP, social worker, voluntary organisation or other health care professional and that it is not possible to self-refer.

NHS 111 provides medical advice 24-hours a day, seven days a week including how to register with a doctor and how to access health services. NHS 111 provides a free interpreter service. To contact the service please dial 111.

Free, confidential online support service

Haringey residents going through a tough time or struggling with mental health issues can now get free online support.

Haringey Council and the Haringey Clinical Commissioning Group (local NHS) have commissioned a free, confidential online support service for all Haringey residents aged 16 or over experiencing mental health issues; such as anxiety and depression.

The online service is called Big White Wall and it provides safe, anonymous, online support 24/7, with a supportive community, information and self-help resources, and trained counsellors online at all times.

To date, 95 per cent of members reported feeling better as a result of joining Big White Wall, and 73 per cent shared something for the first time. Whatever you’re going through, Big White Wall is there to help.

One member says:

"It’s great here to just say what you feel and think without judgement, that’s helped me loads as I’ve always kept a brave face for the last few years with my depression and anxiety. It’s great to be among people who know exactly how you feel."

About the Mental Health Service

Haringey Mental Health Service is provided through partnership between Haringey Council, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust and NHS Haringey. Most services are provided by the Mental Health Trust and include community mental health services (via our joint community mental health teams), as well as acute hospital inpatient services.   • The Clarendon Centre
  • The Haynes Centre (for people with dementia)
  • The Grange (for people with dementia)

Mental Health Strategy

We have a Joint Adult Mental Health Strategy in Haringey. The strategy contains details outlining the modernisation of mental health services through the remodelling of services across the whole client/patient pathway which will have resource implications, including investment in community based care services across health and social care through disinvestment in institutional based care (hospital and residential care home) as appropriate to need.

We have also produced a Joint Older People’s Mental Health and Dementia Commissioning Framework (supported by the Lewis and Mary Haynes Trust). Our Framework reviewed how ready Haringey is to deliver quality services and work to improve the mental health and well-being of people in Haringey. Where we identified gaps, recommendations for action to make improvements have made, and we are working on how we can address these gaps.

In Haringey, the strategic direction is steered by:

  • Our Shadow Health and Well-being Board – one of our three key priorities is improving mental health in the borough
  • Mental Health Partnership Board
  • Older People’s Partnership Board
  • Older People’s Mental Health Steering Group
