Connect: with the people around you, with family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. At home, work, school or in your local community. Join Tottenham Thinking Space, start your own book or gardening club
Be Active: go for a walk or run. Step outside, cycle, play a game, garden, dance - exercising makes you feel good. Make use of our green spaces or join a walking group.
Take Notice: be curious, catch sight of the beautiful, remark on the unusual - notice the changing seasons in Haringey. For a range of events, see our 'What's on?'
Keep Learning: try something, rediscover an old interest, sign up for that course, take on a different responsibility at work. Fix a bike. Learn to play an instrument or how to cook your favourite food. Learning new things will make you more confident as well as being fun. Free courses through Haringey Adult Learning Services (HALS)
Give: do something nice for a friend, or a stranger, thank someone, smile. Volunteer your time. Join a community group. Look out, as well as in. Seeing yourself, and your happiness, linked to the wider community can be incredibly rewarding and creates connections with the people around you. Find out about volunteering on the Do it website (external website) or join Good Gym (external website) and do physical tasks for local community groups
In this year’s Annual Public Health Report, we address the question of 'wellbeing': explaining what wellbeing is, why it is important, and what we can all do as individuals to try and improve our own wellbeing.
We also explore the relationship between wellbeing and mental health, considering the range of factors that can affect our wellbeing, and looking at a number of services available in Haringey which are helping to promote greater wellbeing and resilience within communities.
As ever we are very keen to hear suggestions from residents about how we as a community can promote good mental health and wellbeing across Haringey. You can contact the public health team at: email@example.com
