16 Days of Action 2017
The 16 Days of Action against Gender Violence runs from 25 November (the UN International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women), to 10 December (Human Rights Day) each year. The campaign spans these 16 Days in order to highlight the link between violence against women and human rights. Today, women and girls are subjected to many forms of human rights violations solely on the basis of their gender.
In the 16 Days of Action 2017, we worked with partners to mark each day of the 16 days with an event, training session, activity or a social media output. On 30 November we are held an event at Tottenham Town Hall as part of the celebration of 16 Days. The event, which included a range of performances, speakers and activities, celebrated the great work that has taken place across the borough to achieve the White Ribbon Local Authority Award. Haringey's White Ribbon Campaign mobilises boys and men to take a stand against violence against women and girls - and this is a key part of our commitment to ensuring that women and girls in Haringey can live to their full potential and be free from abuse.
The full programme of our 16 Days events in 2017 can be seen below. A new calendar of events for 16 Days of Action 2018 will be added later in the year.
