Severe weather - update

Publication date: Wednesday 23 January 2013

The latest service updates

Any disruption to council services due to the bad weather - including school closures - will be listed here.

Last update: 9.30am Wednesday

School closures

All schools are open again today.

Recycling and waste collections

Recycling and waste collections are likely to be one day behind, with the aim today (Tuesday 22 January) to pick up Monday’s scheduled refuse collection, and so on, until the backlog is clear and normal schedules are resumed. If necessary the crews will work on Saturday to catch up. If we are unable to collect some or all of your recycling this week we will make a double collection next week.

Roads and gritting

Regular checks are being made of town centre pavements and other areas, and these will be re-gritted as necessary.

Grit levels remain good and we will continue to carry out our Winter Service Plan. You can find out more about the plan here.

Street cleansing

We will try to keep some cleansing services in town centres, resources and weather permitting.

Rearranged meeting

The Transport Forum scheduled for Monday 21 January was cancelled due to the snow and ice. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday 30 January, 6pm-8pm in the Council Chamber, Civic Centre, Wood Green N22.
