Weeds

We kill weeds by spraying them with a herbicide that is toxic to them. This stops them growing between paving slabs and along the edge of the road.

The herbicide used is not hazardous and is suitable for outdoor use.

In residential areas, herbicides will not be used before 8am and spraying will normally finish by 4.30pm.

In areas around schools and similar properties, herbicides will not be used before 9am and spraying will normally finish by 3.30pm.

When spraying, we consider:

  • nearby waterways like rivers and streams
  • drains
  • neighbouring properties
  • other environmental factors

Treatments take place in 3 stages:

  • first treatment – April to May
  • second treatment – July to August
  • third treatment – October to November
