Council Tax Payments
Paying by instalments
Your council tax instalments are due on the first of every month from April to January. Please ensure your payments reach us before the due date. This will help to avoid you falling into arrears and losing the right to pay by instalments.
How to pay over 12 months
The option to pay over 12 months is only available from April until the following March. If you have recently received a bill for council tax, you can still apply but we will only be able to extend your instalment plan until March. To apply contact us on 020 8489 3557.
You can pay your Council Tax on either the 1st, 15th or 25th of the month. Find out more about Direct Debit.
Using the automated telephone payment service on 0300 4560520. Select option 1 for council tax. You will be asked to quote your council tax account number shown on the front of your bill.
Online or telephone banking
You can make a payment using online banking or telephone banking. Quote Haringey's bank account number 43399710, sort code 20-98-47, and your full council tax account number shown on the front of your bill.
If you have set up a standing order using the previous sort code it will remain in place for the rest of the financial year - you do not need to amend it until you receive your new bill.
Swipe payment card replaced by Barcodes on the bill
You can also pay by swipe payment card where you see one of the symbols above. This method is for existing swipe cards being used by tax payers. This payment method has been replaced by a barcode on the reverse of your bill and new payment cards will no longer be issued. If you wish to pay by this method and have your lost your bill, contact customer services on 020 8489 3557 for a replacement bill. You can make payment by taking your bill to any PayPoint location or post office.
At any bank or Post Office
You may also pay by cheque, cash, debit or credit card. A fee may be charged if you pay at a bank other than your branch and a standard fee is charged by the Post Office. If you chose to pay by cash or cheque through a bank or post office you should allow at least five working days for your payment to reach your council tax account. Recovery action may be taken against you if your payment is late.
