Promoting high standards
Councils may establish Standards Committees, as part of the ethical framework for local authorities established by the Localism Act 2011. The aim is to promote and maintain high standards of ethical conduct among elected and co-opted members.
The role of this Committee is to advise Haringey Council on the adoption of a Members' Code of Conduct, update and monitor the Code as necessary and to be responsible for implementing the Code and providing training for Members on ethical conduct.

Standards Committee meetings
Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings as observers.
Meetings are held at the Civic Centre, High Road, Wood Green, London, N22 8LE.
The Standards Committee is responsible for determining allegations that a member or co-opted member of Haringey Council has failed to comply with the Members' Code of Conduct.
Pursuant to the Localism Act 2011 the Council has approved 'Arrangements' for dealing with such allegations, which contain the process to be undertaken to ensure that all allegations are handled appropriately and that decisions are made in light of all relevant information.
For more information or if you wish to make an allegation that a member or co-opted member of Haringey Council has failed to comply with the Members' Code of Conduct see our Members' Code of Conduct Complaints Process page.
