What Happens to Recycling?

Recycling is collected in different ways in Haringey, depending on the types of items and where they are being picked up from.

For more information about what happens to your recycling, please refer to the relevant section below:

Mixed material collections

The mixed material collections page gives details on how different types of recycling can be collected from the same boxes and bins. This is now the most common type of recycling collection in Haringey, and includes:

  • Recycle bin collections
  • On-street recycling banks
  • 'On The Go' recycling litter bins
  • Recycling facilities at many blocks of flats and housing estates
  • Clear sack collections

Source separated collections

The source separated collections page provides information about recycling that is collected in different containers. The only source-separated collections in Haringey are for specific items at the Reuse and Recycling Centre, and also the special recycling banks for textiles located around the borough.

Organic recycling

The organic recycling page provides more information about the local composting facility where the food waste and garden waste collected in Haringey is taken.
