Unsung Women’s Awards 2018
As the country marks the women’s suffrage centenary, Haringey is preparing to celebrate the many women and girls whose exceptional efforts help make the borough a better place.
The Haringey Unsung Women’s Awards will shine a light on outstanding women from across the community.
Supported by local biking business Zenith Motorcycles – fronted by Britain’s official Biking Hero Karen Neill – and arranged by former Mayor of Haringey Cllr Sheila Peacock, the event on Saturday, March 10 will coincide with International Women’s Day.
Nominations for the Haringey Unsung Women’s Awards are open now. If you know an impressive woman whose achievements and efforts are helping make a difference in Haringey, make sure you nominate them.
Cllr Peacock said:
“We come together each year to celebrate Haringey’s army of exceptional women through our Unsung Women’s Awards.
“The 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act is a chance for us to further honour women’s contributions, and also to reflect on what more needs to be done to ensure true equality for all women.
“Volunteers, teachers, students, community workers, business leaders, parents – the list of great women in our borough goes on and on. If you know someone who deserves recognition, please nominate them so that we can say thank you.”
Each nominee, and the person who nominated them, will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at Haringey’s Civic Centre, Wood Green High Road, at 2pm on March 10.
