Lendlease selected as development partner for High Road West transformation
The transformation of Tottenham’s High Road West moved a step closer after Cabinet agreed last night (Tuesday 12 September) to appoint regeneration experts Lendlease as development partner.
The ambitious plans for the area opposite the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium development have been shaped by local residents following more than five years of community participation. Highlights of the High Road West development include:
More than 2,500 homes, with at least 750 affordable homes
191 high-quality council homes which will be managed by Homes for Haringey, meeting the aspirations of a Resident Charter
A cutting edge new library and learning centre
A refurbished community hub with new facilities at the Grange
A new civic square for community activities and cultural events, flanked by new shops, restaurants and cafes
New green spaces including gardens, children’s play area and outdoor gym
More than £10million social and economic support for businesses and residents
Investment in the town centre and community events
Thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of new jobs following development
A new industrial space to support businesses from the existing Peacock Industrial Estate
Cllr Alan Strickland, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration and Planning, said:
“I’m proud that local people have made such a big contribution in helping shape the plans which will transform North Tottenham on a site right next to the revamped Spurs stadium. The High Road West scheme will create 2,500 high-quality, safe new homes, including at least 750 affordable homes and around 200 replacement council homes. It will also bring thousands of new jobs to the area as well as a new library, a new public square and a refurbished heritage building which will offer community based services including IT training and advice and guidance.
“Tottenham is London's most dynamic and important regeneration area and this is an exciting next step in our ambitious plans for the area. We now look forward to working with Lendlease whose expertise will be crucial in delivering a development which will bring huge benefits to residents and businesses.”
Lendlease’s Chief Executive Officer, International Operations, Dan Labbad said:
“We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver such an ambitious project. The transformation of High Road West will establish the area as a world-class cultural and leisure destination and we look forward to working with Haringey Council, the local community and other stakeholders to realise this vision for North Tottenham.”
