The Haynes: Living well with dementia
Due to adverse weather conditions, this event has now been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Arts and crafts, music, gardening and more will be on offer as the Haynes Dementia Hub hosts a special event to showcase the work it does to support people with dementia, their families, carers and friends.
The Hub is a one-stop-shop for information, advice and practical support for living well with dementia, and offers a host of activities and events.
With a focus on early help and intervention, and helping people to live independently in their local communities, the Haynes Dementia Hub offers day-care placements; day-excursions; special events, and pay-as-you-go bonding activities such as arts and crafts, memory recall, life skills, gardening and music. It also offers a refuge and respite for carers through relative support groups.
The open-day on Friday, March 2, will be a chance for visitors to get info and advice as well as taking part in taster sessions highlighting some of the many activities on offer, as well as enjoying a raffle and a free buffet lunch.
Cllr Bernice Vanier, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Culture, said:
When a diagnosis of dementia is received, residents need to know that we are there for them and their families at what can be a very emotional and difficult time.
The Hub provides a great opportunity for people to access the information and support they need to maintain the best possible quality of life and to play an active role in planning for their future.
The activities on offer really help people to live well with dementia, as well as offering vital support to their family and carers.”
The event, which is open to all and especially those impacted by dementia, will be officially opened by the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Stephen Mann, at 11am and will continue until 2.30pm at the Haynes, 151b Park Road, N8 8JD.
