Finsbury Park attack
We are all appalled and saddened at the attack outside the Muslim Welfare House near Finsbury Park Mosque in the early hours of this morning. For innocent people to be harmed while taking part in peaceful worship is beyond comprehension.
We know that many Haringey residents will be regular visitors to the mosque, and our thoughts are with them and everyone else affected.
I will be joining afternoon prayers at the Wightman Road mosque today, and we are offering our friends, neighbours and colleagues in Islington any support necessary as they try to deal with this horrific incident.
We are also working with communities here in Haringey to offer reassurance and support. We’re rightly proud of the strong community cohesion in our borough, and I’m determined that we do not allow the evil actions of a few to undermine the great unity that we enjoy in Haringey.
Cllr Eugene Ayisi, Cabinet Member for Communities
