Students launch Justin Bee-Bear into space!
Friday 7 July 2017
On Wednesday 5 July, 13 pupils from St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School released the school teddy bear, Justin Bee-Bear, into space in a high density altitude balloon in Elsworth, Cambridge.
Armed with a series of incredibly small computers (called Raspberry Pis), Justin Bee-Bear sent back live flight images and photographs of his stratospheric voyage!
The children and adults alike gasped in awe as some of the images showed the curvature of Planet Earth in the background, before the balloon burst and fell back to earth.
This extraordinary project was part of the school’s ongoing celebrations to mark the 130th anniversary of their opening. Justin is now proudly on display in the school, back from an adventure that will never be forgotten by the children at the school.
