The Great Get Together
Haringey Council is urging residents to get together and be part of one of the biggest community celebrations seen since the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
The Great Get Together is a national campaign encouraging Britain’s diverse communities to celebrate all they have in common over one weekend in June. Backed by The Big Lunch, Jo Cox Foundation and dozens of other groups, friends, neighbours and others are being encouraged to organise activity to celebrate and promote community cohesion.
Haringey has a long and positive history of its diverse communities successfully integrating and communicating and now we want to do all we can to support community activity.
On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June 2017 we want to see at least one outdoor community celebration taking place in each of the borough’s nineteen wards.
And to help encourage residents to organise street parties, picnics and other community events in parks celebrating all that Haringey has to offer, we have streamlined the application process for applying for a road closure and to hire a park for community events, are offering funding and free event management training to those wanting to organise events that will benefit their local community.
To apply for a road closure to host a street party in a residential street or to hire a park managed by Haringey Council, please visit our Community Events page. Here you can find out all you need to know about the application process, documents that are needed and how to go about submitting an application.
We have 19 pots of £250 that can be applied for to help facilitate a community event. This funding is open to a group or an individual organising activity that will benefit their local neighbourhood.
To apply for funding, complete the The Great Get Together - application form (Word, 52KB) and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday 14 May. Applications will be assessed and funding allocated. All applicants will be notified on the decision by Friday 19 May 2017.
If you would like to benefit from taking part in our free event management training then let us know by emailing email@example.com before Sunday 14 May. The half day training will take place twice at the end of May and we will contact you with further details once you have registered.
If you would like any further information please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 8489 1418.
