Inside the library

Inside Hornsey Library

The Grade II listed library is situated in the creative hub of the borough and offers a huge variety of services and facilities.

It hosts regular exhibitions of emerging artists in The Original Gallery, book readings from international bestsellers and local authors and is annually listed in the Open House programme to visit the engraved window by F Mitchell showing Hornsey architecture and bronze sculpture by Huxley-Jones set in fountain outside.

Hornsey Library also has large book,newspaper, CD and DVD collections includes material in many different languages.

The Original Gallery

The Original Gallery is Haringey Council’s first commercial art gallery. The gallery is situated in the creative hub of the borough and exhibits work from a rich mix of established and emerging artists. Please visit The Original Gallery page for more information.

Cafe at Hornsey Library

Cafe

Opening hours Tuesday to Saturday, 9.15am to- 4.45pm.

Chapter One Cafe, on the first floor, is run by pieceofplenty - artisan food producers based in N8.

The cafe serves fresh filter coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices, salads, sandwiches, savoury and sweet snacks, and locally produced cakes. Breakfast snacks are also available including granola with stewed fruits, yoghurt and milk. Food can be enjoyed in the courtyard garden.
