Haringey’s Carers Hub in Wood Green
The Carers Hub:

- gives carers a place where they can meet other unpaid carers - a relaxing space for carers to meet up over a cup of tea or coffee or to access the internet
- provides somewhere carers can access information and advice.
The Carers Hub can be found in Wood Green Central Library, on the ground floor near the entrance to the Library.

To capture the celebration of the launch, Maggie Dain, a carer and a representative on Haringey’s Carers Partnership Board wrote the following poem.
The Hub Opening - 15 June 2011
It’s today!
But, of course, I got it wrong –
arrived too early, so now am vacant of purpose
and wondering how I can use the empty hour.
But it’s not empty – it’s full of life, both dead and alive –
books and people
what more can I want?
Books – yes – “the life blood of the master spirit”, as was once said –
that people come to, by chance or by design,
or miss, and that is a loss that should not happen –
when will our schools and human needs truly work for us all?
...
But The Hub still awaits opening – just one more half-hour!
I hope it will do everything we all hope it will:
a friendly place of meeting, sharing, finding, laughing, perhaps a little tearfully –
maybe hoping again that something can be supported
in lives sometimes too stressed for hope.
...
Yes, everything, that life’s about –
OK, so not everything,
but at least something, in some small, comforting way.
